6 Condo Moving Mistakes To Avoid

With the availability of many condominium units in Singapore, people often find themselves moving from one unit to another. Condo moving can be a fairly simple process provided that you know exactly what you are doing. However, in many cases, people often find themselves lost or confused on what to do first. Moving isn't just about putting your things in boxes then renting a truck to carry them over to your new place. You have to plan things first so that the move will be as smooth as possible. People make a lot of mistakes when transferring from one condominium to another. Such mistakes include the following:

6 Condo Moving Mistakes To Avoid

1. Not planning ahead of time.
Singapore may be a medium-sized city but navigating its many streets can be quite a stretch. If you are relocating from one section of the city to another, you need to plan ahead so that when the time comes, you know exactly how to get to your new place. You need to plan which condo moving company you are going to hire. You must also plan the exact time and date of your relocation. This will give you an ample amount of time to pack your things, put them in boxes and containers, and have them ready for pick-up.

2. Not choosing the right moving company.
The company you hire will depend on the size or amount of things that you need to move. For example, if you have dozens of boxes or furniture that must be transferred to your new condo, you are going to need more than one trucks or vans. That said, you have to ensure that the company you hire have the necessary trucks to transfer your things. If you are going to relocate just a few boxes, then a van might suffice. This will not only cost much less, the move will also be quicker and easier.

3. Not getting an estimate from the condo moving company.
To put things in perspective, you don't just buy a house or a lot without knowing hum much it costs. The same can be said about hiring a moving company. You have to be aware of the service fees before you agree to the deal. As we mentioned earlier, the price of the company's services will depend on the amount of things that need to be relocated. However, before your things get transferred, make it a point to ask an estimate of how much the move will cost you.

4. Not separating fragile items from those that can withstand bumps or drops.
This is a common mistake among people who are moving. They often fail to box breakable items like glassware and electronic appliances in a way that they are identifiable to be fragile and thus should be handled with care. The general rule is that you should mark boxes containing breakable items as "fragile". Or better yet, mark them with signs of "handle with care". That said, when the moving company comes to pick them up, they'll be more careful in moving the boxes.

5. Not checking the inventory twice or thrice.
Here's the thing: moving companies are not perfect. Sometimes, boxes and items get lost while in transit. When this happens, the company won't claim the responsibility if you can't present proof that the box or item was loaded into their truck or van. With that said, you should check twice or thrice the number of boxes or items that are going to be moved. Also, make sure that the moving company has a copy of your inventory list. Have them recheck the inventory list before they move the boxes to your new place.

6. Not taking into account plants or pets.
Plants or flowers that are in pots or containers need extra attention when being moved. The same can be said about pets. For instance, moving an aquarium full of fish can require extra costs from the moving company. It is always best that you inform the company if you are moving plants or pets. This way, they can prepare for them. Some companies have cages or portable devices that they use for these instances.

If you are moving from one condo unit to another in Singapore, always make sure that you don't make the common mistakes discussed above.
